A little poets drabble: Two Stones

Two Stones:
Two stones rest upon the cool grass,
Two long unbeating hearts underneath.
Rain falls, covering the field of dead.
Slowly, the drops sink into the earth.
They make small drip drop sounds
On the rotting wood, seeping through
The cracks. The wetness spreads
Upon the bone, soaks into his
Sunday suit, her favorite dress.
They have lain there awhile now.
Their eternal sleep began quite long ago,
Their memories have faded and weeds have
Sprouted up from the ground, all around.
The souls Of two star-crossed lovers
Left the world long ago,
Leaving only bones and two stones behind
